Searching for Gender Inequalities in Global Issues – Panel
The United Nations established the Sustainable Development Goals to find solutions to global problems. Since 2016, the SDGs have been a guiding force in identifying and solving numerous issues. However, problems such as natural disasters, economic crises, environmental issues, food and water shortages, and consequences still do not affect everyone equally. One of the most visible inequalities is gender inequality. Even when discussing a global issue, gender-based inequalities can layer this problem, making it more complex.
So, why does gender inequality create different problems? What does it cause? Why do these inequalities remain in the background or are not discussed? Why are they not as visible as the global issue itself? How can we include the agenda of gender inequality in solving global issues?
The panel “Searching for Gender Inequalities in Global Challenges” stands precisely at the intersection of these questions and problems. On February 21, we will discuss gender inequalities within global issues at our panel. More importantly, we will look beyond these problems and discuss how we can build a more equal future.
This panel will be the first in our series of panels organized as part of the 2nd ÖzU Gender Ideathon. Our panel is open to everyone, especially members of Özyeğin University, and we invite you all to discuss these issues. Let’s come together to talk about global issues and the gender inequalities within them!
Our panel will take place in the ÖzÜ-X B27 area and will be broadcast on Zoom.
**The event will be held in Turkish.**
