Arca Begüm Bayır- Oğuz graduated from Marmara University with a double major in Sociology (English) and Law. She completed her master degree both in Sociology (English) at Yeditepe University with her interdisciplinary thesis on “Sociological Factors Affecting The Judicial Decision Making Of Judges In Contentious Cases In Turkey” and in Human Rights Law at Galatasaray University Faculty of Law with her project “A Feminist Perspective on Article 438 of the Turkish Penal Code and the Constitutional Court’s Justifications on Article 438”. During her undergraduate and graduate studies, she participated in various projects, researches and trainings in the fields of gender and law and worked as a consultant in many studies. She continues to work as a Gender Equality Specialist at Özyeğin University and is a member of the International Association for Social and Legal Studies, an organization where law intersects with different fields.
